The Firing Pin, LLC uses an extensive process to accomplish the task of Slow Rust Bluing or Rust Browning. All or some of these task may be involved. * Complete dis-assembly and inspection of the weapon. * Complete cleaning of the weapon. * Hand-Polish with using 120 - 320 Emory paper. * Removal of hand oils and polish residue by boiling and acetone. * Applying either Rust Blue or Rust Brown solution. * Allow to slow rust. * Boil-Hot rinse. * Carding or removing excess with either wheels or brushes. * Repeating steps 7-10 until I achieve the desired look you want,
usually 15-20 times. * Applying RIG (Rust Inhibiting Grease). * Wipe down and apply Ballistol Sportsman Oil. * Reassemble. * Functional test. * Test fire. (If applicable) * It may take a little longer and cost a lot more for rust bluing/browning but the results are superb. A must do for fine old doubles with soft soldered barrels. And it will blue or brown receivers made from cast and high nickel steel that turns red or purple in hot blue. Plus hot bluing will attack the soft solder and you don't want that to happen!
